PDO THREATS

What are PDO Threads?

PDO (Polydioxanone) threads are an innovative and safe method that reduces facial sagging by creating a supportive mesh that lifts and supports the tissues. A similar effect can be achieved on the body as well.

These threads strictly adhere to European safety standards (CE) and are 100% biodegradable.

Application on the Face

On the face, the threads can be used alone in the oval and cheeks or in combination with lifting threads. They are inserted using fine, specialized needles that carry the thread inside them. By simply inserting the needle into the skin and removing it, the thread remains in the predetermined position.

The face acquires a youthful appearance, and the skin looks firmer. Scientific studies have shown that after the threads are inserted, the body starts to produce collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid around them.

Procedure Duration and Results

The entire process lasts 30-40 minutes, and patients can immediately return to their daily activities. Results are visible immediately due to the mechanical action of the threads, and they improve even further over the next three months.

The material dissolves within 8-10 months, being replaced by collagen fibers in a specific arrangement. The effect lasts for 12-18 months, thanks to the phenomenon of collagen genesis, responsible for tightening and rejuvenating the skin.

Post-Treatment Instructions for Thread Application

On the day of the treatment, all activities that may worsen inflammation are prohibited, such as using a sauna, taking hot baths, or consuming alcohol.

  • Apply ice packs or ice rollers to the treatment area for about 20 minutes to avoid swelling or bruising, and continue this 5 times a day for the next 3-4 days.
  • Apply an antibiotic cream (Bactroban) with clean hands to the thread entry points for the first 48 hours.
  • Limit facial movements as much as possible for 24 hours, avoiding excessive facial expressions.
  • Do not use makeup for 48 hours.
  • After washing your face, pat it dry gently instead of rubbing.
  • Any pain, if present, can be managed with oral medication (paracetamol). Ibuprofen and all NSAIDs should be avoided for the next 2 weeks to limit bruising and because a normal inflammatory phase is desirable for achieving expected results.
  • It is recommended to elevate the head while sleeping on the first day to reduce swelling (if the treatment is for the face).
  • Avoid applying any downward pressure on the face (cheeks).
  • For at least 24 hours, limit intense activities. Normal activities can typically resume after 2-3 days.
